Shepherd Early Learning Centre complies with the Children (Education and Care Services) National Law (NSW) and Regulations. Qualified teachers are employed.

The centre uses The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) practices and outcomes which are essential to support and enhance young children’s learning from birth to five years of age, as well as their transition to school.

Shepherd Early Learning Centre views each child as unique with individual interests, values and beliefs. It is our belief that children mature and develop to their potential in an environment that both embraces and supports diversity and difference. We priorities spontaneous and interest-based learning, and maintain a positive, supportive, and inclusive approach to family and community values and beliefs.

SELC aims to promote and sustain children’s natural innate sense of curiosity in a stimulating, caring and play enriched environment. We view play as central to learning and development, it provides children with the opportunity to boundlessly explore the possibility in a comfortable and self-directed environment.

We base our programming and planning practices upon the Australian Government Early Years Learning Frameworks (EYLF) which coincides with our philosophy where respect for individuality, difference and free play provides optimal learning circumstances.

We value parent involvement and input, we acknowledge, respect and welcome ideas which may further enhance and challenge their child’s learning potential. We believe that by partnering with parents and the wider community we may further enrich children’s learning by developing a comfortable and familiar learning environment where children can feel free to learn and explore as valued individuals.
